Personal experiments
Etna Quake is a personal project that aims to make earthquake data more accessible and engaging by turning it into visual art.
It uses a script that I wrote myself to convert a spreadsheet of seismic events recorded during the eruption of Mount Etna in December 2018 into colorful graphics.
The script can be applied to any new data set, allowing me to create new visualisations with minimal effort.
I see it as an example of how data science and creativity can work together to produce stunning results.
The plain data set, in a text list form.
The same data, visualised with the aid of impactful art direction.
